LH8 CATHY 23-9 |
BIRDIE |
We have finally decided on raising a Berkshire and some Hampshires, we also have some Durock and Spot mixes. We obtained a registered Berkshire sow, LH8 CATHY 23-9 around the first of November, 2009. Then we got Birdie just after Thanksgiving when she was about 4 months old. Then in March of 2010 we got Henrietta and Petunia. They were born December 24, 2009. The other pigs that you see in the pictures are feeder hogs. All of our animals are grown naturally, humanely raised, and truly pasture raised, free roaming outdoors. We breed for gentle temperment, pasturability, mothering ability and meat quality.
We offer local sales of whole pigs, half pigs, and piglets.
Cathy was bred to a registered Hampshire, and had piglets in February 2010. We have started a CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture program for our pigs, chickens (eggs and meat) and possibly goats. CSA is like raising your own pig, but without all the work. If you don't have the space, or the time to be able to raise one, we do it for you. They stay here and we feed them. We raise the pig, and you either pick it up, or the meat when you are ready. You decide what target weight or time frame, and we will call you when it is ready. If you want just a 1/2 pig, or a 1/4 pig, we can accommodate that as well.
If you are interested, please Contact Us for more information. We have it set up through our butcher to process pigs for our customers, if that's what you want.

They have grown tremendously since we got them, and they are now out in pastures, instead of in quarantine.
