WE HAVE DECIDED TO SELL OUT! All of the animals are gone, but we do still have quite a bit of equipment, from tractors to fitting stands, email if you are interested.LET US KNOW WHAT YOU MIGHT BE LOOKING FOR!
Hello, and welcome to Detour Ranch. We'd like to share our family and animals with you, so you're welcome to join us for awhile in the West Texas adventure we call 'ranchin'!
We raise Boer Goats, Berkshire and other Pigs, and Rhode Island Red Chickens, mostly for our CSA program. Feel free to kick your shoes off and take a look around, and maybe you'll see something you like.
Here at Detour Ranch we try to enjoy what God has given us, and try to remember, what we can't handle ourselves, God will bring us through!
Our goat herd consists of Registered Boer Goats, and some Boer goat crosses. We raise show goats, meat goats, and breeding stock.
We have several different breeds of pigs. Different breeds means different kinds of meat. We have a registered Berkshire Sow (looking for a registered Boar), a Hampshire gilt, a couple of Durok / Spot cross gilts, and a few baby girls from Cathy that we are going to start breeding.
We raise Rhode Island Reds for eggs and meat, we also have chicks available to purchase if you want to raise your own.
We are excited, we have started a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program. If you are interested, or want more information, Click Here. If you are interested in raising goats, pigs, or chickens for 4-H or for an FFA project, please Contact Us to see what we might have availible. |
A very close friend of mine once told me, "GOD DID NOT BRING YA THIS FAR JUST TO DROP YA!!"
|
Be sure to check out the Chicken page or the For Sale page, as we will be selling chicks starting at the end of April, 2010. We are truly pasture raising Rhode Island Reds, not only for their egg laying abilities, but also for the quality of meat. |
Also be sure to check out the Kids' page and the For Sale page if you are looking for either a FFA / 4-H wether. If you want a commercial buck, or a 100% registered buck for either different blood lines in your herd, or if you are just starting out and need breeding stock. | We have Pigs available for our CSA program! They are listed on the Pig page, and on the For Sale page. If you are interested in purchasing one with our CSA program, please Contact Us. | You know it hardly ever snows here, but as of 2/24/10 we have already gotten five snow falls this year. The trees and cacti look so pretty when they are covered with snow. The goats really don't like it when it snows, but the pigs really do. They like to go out and play in it. |
